Ruski begins his journey as he collects his first Pokémon - Koaleaf. As Ruski leaves the lab with his new Pokémon he immediately invites the Pokémon to come on out. Koaleaf leaps out of the ball.
'Hey Koaleaf, you ready for an adventure?' Koaleaf agrees furiously.
'Hey Ruski', says a voice from behind. Ruski turns to see Layton, one of his neighbors. 'I saw you getting a new Pokémon, fancy a battle?...

Layton then sent out a Pokémon, if you decided you wanted to battle.

'Whoa' Ruski's inexperience showed as he was faced by one of the other starter Pokémon, yet he didn't know anything about it. Ruski and all the other starting trainers had started their journey to collect data on the OI Pokémon because the region had only recently been discovered.

Ruski took out his pokedex. It played a melodic tune whilst giving a description -

'Pyroo, the Joey Pokémon. PYROO tire themselves out quickly when moving, since their only way of moving quickly is by hopping'

'Pyroo. Ok Koaleaf, I choose you, use...' Then Ruski realized he wasn't absolutely sure what Koaleafs moves were.

'Ok Koaleaf, use tackle!'
'Kkkkkooooaa...leaf?' Koaleaf's battlecry fell short as it heard it's trainer's command.

'Ha, what a loser!' Cried Layton. 'You'll never get anywhere like that. Knowing what moves your Pokémon can do is the most basic trainer knowledge!'

Ruski was determined not to let the older know-it-all get under his skin.

'I'll show you! Koaleaf, use...SCRATCH!'

"Now," Layton called to his Pyroo. "Use your own scratch attack back!"

The grass and fire warriors darted towards one another. Each swinging their outstretched claws. Neither was able to land a significant blow. Only minor blows as the two continually attacked each other.

However, their was something wrong with the scene. The two Pokémon looked like two nerds swatting their hands at each other as if they were cartoons. (heh)

Seems you two will need to get a bit more creative with your attack calls. For right now, the direction your Pokémon are getting is well... not so great.

(Ha, that made me laugh out loud)

The other starter trainers were now coming out of the labs and forming a circle around the match. Each seemed to pick either Pyroo or Koaleaf to cheer for. Ruski remembered Pyroo's pokedex description.

'Koaleaf, target Pyroo's tail, knock him to the ground!'

'Koaalllleeeeaaaaffff!!!!' Koaleaf turned and ran towards Pyroo...

'Again Koaleaf, scratch!'

The trainers around the battle had started to pair off battling each others Pokémon. The area was getting slightly crowded.

Pyroo clawed at the small koala's tail, and as the grass pokemonn charged forward, it's small claws ready, a Pulppy was knocked through your battle. Incidentally, it hit Koaleaf and knocked the Pokémon off its feet. That's gonna leave a mark...

'Oh no! Koaleaf, you ok?' Ruski couldn't believe his luck! The Pulppy that had tripped Koaleaf had been pounded by a Pattle. Ruski decided to go for broke.

'Koaleaf, jump on Pattle's back and launch yourself at Pyroo, give it everything you've got with scratch!'

However, Pattles tend not to enjoy being jumped on. In fact they rather dislike it. The Pattle launched Koaleaf off his back, before your grass Pokémon could get a good enough footing to leap for the pyroo...

{5} :koaleaf: 1/25
{7} :pattle: 29/29

Seems a much stronger Pattle had just entered the fight... Pyroo tried to get at your Koaleaf but was unable to pass the Pattle. The water type swatted the fire Pokémon down before it could harm your grass type. But his eyes remained menacingly fixed on your koaleaf. Slowly the water type walked forward...

OOC:
TIP TIME! So to prevent you from losing I've introduced a third Pokémon to this battle. Just cause... its really lame to lose your first battle. If I were you though, I'd try to get the pattle to start fighting Pyroo for you. Don't know who you plan on doing that. But currently that seems to be the only way for you to win.

OOC: Yeah this has been quite lame. I hope all battle results are selected by calculator though? Funny how I really didn't want this first one to be as boring as some others, and yet being creative nearly cost me the battle.

But creativity begets creativity, so maybe I can get out of this one. I'm going on the assumption that I can write what moves Pattle makes.'

'Wow, should have realised Pattle wouldn't like being jumped on -_-'. The new Pokémon started waddleing towards Koaleaf.

'Pattle!'. The water Pokémon released a stream of bubbles. Koaleaf leapt to one side. Ruski wondered if he really could turn this around.

'Alright, lets give this one more try. Koaleaf, run past Pattle and behind Pyroo. Push Pyroo into Pattle by using scratch!'.

As Koaleaf ran past Pattle, it used constant bubble but wasn't quick enough to hit the grass type.

We do have a calculator used to add up battle damage. And don't worry it wasn't really your creativity which killed you, in fact it did quite the opposite. You were just unfortunate because the pyroo you were fighting used a scratch which scored a critical hit. So it did double the normal damage (critical hits are integrated into the latest calculator to ensure that they are randomly released). Anyways, by being creative you were able to get a third Pokémon introduced and pretty much save your self.

IC:

Koaleaf dashed past the water type, the trail of bubbles following him were shooting dust into the air and soon all three Pokémon were hidden from view as the dust prevented any of the trainers from seeing what was happening.

"Thump"
"Crack"
"PAT PAT PAT!"

...

To see the results.

Anyways, just wanted to say thank you to you. I've enjoyed RPing with you and hope you continue to be creative with your posts in the coming routes. Oh and I hope you had a good time.

OCC - That was great. Thanks, I enjoyed that too :). Interesting how a new character, Dan, has now come into this. The way you tied that up was excellent. ;).

'Ok Koaleaf, you did a great job and deserve a long rest'. A flash of red light engulfed Koaleaf and it returned to it's pokeball.

Layton withdrew his Pyroo, gave Ruski a pitiful look and started heading off. 'Well, see you later Rusty, I'm off to catch some Pokémon'.

'Hey its Ruski not RUSTY!' shouted Ruski. Ruski had known Layton ever since he'd been 5 and Layton had been 7. And they'd never really seen eye to eye after Layton broke Ruski's Arbok toy.

Ruski said goodbyes to his family and headed off to the coastal start of Route 201.
