Brainstorm
take me away from the norm
I got to tell you something
this phenomenon
I had to put it in a song
and it goes like

Whoa, amber is the color of your energy
whoa, shades of gold displayed naturally
you ought to know what brings me here
you glide through my head blind to fear
and I know why
whoa, amber is the color of your energy
whoa, shades of gold displayed naturally

Whoa, amber is the color of your energy
whoa, shades of gold displayed naturally

You live too far away
your voice rings like a bell anyway
don't give up your independence
unless it feels so right
nothing good comes easily
sometimes you gotta fight

Whoa, amber is the color of your energy
whoa, shades of gold displayed naturally
launched a thousand ships in my heart, so easy
still it's fine from afar, and you know that
whoa, brainstorm take me away from the norm
whoa, I got to tell you something

I recalled Sven when we had landed in Trovita Island. It was a long, hard trip for him, but I made sure to let him know that I had appreciated his help in getting me here.

It had been a couple of days since we beat the Elite Four; after our ordeal on Route 220 we weren't exactly hyped to get going again. We were getting used to the treatment that we now got from people, being revered as demi-gods within the trainer community now. Everywhere I went, people always asked for autographs or a battle. It was tiring, but a few days of R&R on Pummelo, which happened to be nicely excluded from the rest of the OI's thanks to Victory Road, helped calm us down and get ready to set out again.

So I walked into the Trovita Pokémon Center and dropped Sven back in the PC for a rest, and picked up Baron again. We headed out into Route 204. This was easily one of my favorite places in the Islands. It was nice and small, wtih many small Pokémon scurrying around. It also had the benefit of being one of the warmer and sunnier regions in the islands, which made for perfect travel and perfect practice for getting back into fighting shape so we could head out once again. We shied away from the usual trainers, which somehow still managed to crop up everywhere now that we were "popular." Instead, we traversed off into the woods, looking for a couple wild Pokémon to pick off for practice.

OoC: wat the hell why am I writing big posts aaa

OoC: Bane RNG'd it.

Taegle used Mach Punch to strike first, and while the attack did little damage, it did manage to throw of Crown's charging attack, causing it to misfire and not hit at all.

The Taegle struck once again with a mach punch in hopes of throwing off it's foe's aim, but didn't quite distract it enough. Your Pokémon managed to hit this time, dealing a significant amount of damage, but not quite enough to defeat it's foe.

I sat.

I don't know why, but I sat. On a stump. I sat and thought.

Why?

Why do we still fight here? What have we to gain but little? We are the greatest, yet still we remain, taking on unkown challengers that through their enigmaticy, we know that they are weaker and we are stronger. We already know the outcome from the start, yet still. We fight. A meaningless, worthless, fight that only brings about tiredness. Why? I sat. I sat and I thought. I thought, and then I rose.

I rose and I left. I left and I walked. And walked, and walked, and walked. It was the clearest walk I had almost ever had. No man to stop us and demand a useless, worthless fight. Even the wild Pokémon were unusually quiet. I walked, and walked, and walked. I walked until a particular sight caught my eye. Navel Mountain. It had been so long ago... so long ago that I couldn't honestly remember much of my stay there, only that it had been quite brief... all those memories, stored away so deep that I couldn't even remember them. I saw the mountain, and I walked. I walked to Navel Mountain.

It had taken several hours, but as was my previous hike, they were strangely quiet. No fights at all. My team trotted behind me. The looks on their faces were of concern, but they had trusted me enough not to stop me and ask me what was wrong. We had arrived at Navel Island. And we walked.

We walked through the town. It was now the winter season, and the island was experiencing a harsh chill, down to almost 43°. Thus, the streets were nearly empty, except for the warm, heated shops. Travelers hurried to take cover from the bitter cold. However, we were relatively unaffected by it. Eis felt much better in the weather, and only Baron was affected that much at all, but he quickly puffed some steam to warm himself. And we walked.

Now we were along the base of the mountain. The weather had only intensified with the slight rise in elevation, and there was even a light snowfall starting. Only a few hardy hikers braved the mountain in such cold. Baron couldn't take it anymore and requested to be put in his ball. I obliged, feeling sorry for the poor croc. I'd have to get him something later... but still we walked, now upwards.

The slopes of the mountain steepened, and Vayne was now unable to continue. He was hardening in the now-intensifying blizzard. I put him away. Valiant, Eis, Luna, and Crown continued on with me. We continued on, still we walked.

We walked on. We walked until we could not no longer. We had even neared the peak, but my thirst for travel was not satisfied. Luna and Eis had trouble traversing the climb now, so I put them in their balls. Valiant slipped and knocked himself out on the ice, so I had to put him away. It was me and Crown now. I hopped up on his shell and we now rose slowly.

We rose. We rose as high as we could. The peak was untouched, and the weather has clear as crystal. The clouds were so close that I could've reached out and touched them. I stepped off of Crown and recalled him, thanking him for his efforts and giving him a quick rest.

And I sat.

I don't know why, but I sat. On the peak. I sat and thought.

Why? Why had I traveled so far? What had I to gain but frostbite? And yet... I did.

Because I loved it. I craved it. I wanted it. Just as I had fought earlier. I did it because it made me tougher, made me resilient, gave me some bit of glory. Just as I had fought earlier. It gave me memories. Just as I had fought earlier...

I called Crown back out and we rode down the mountain to the Pokémon Center. I dropped my team off for a quick spot in the rejuvinator and got a room key from Nurse Joy. I stomped up to my room and set my pack on the bed before crashing on it and sprawling out, face-down. "So I crave it," I said to no one in particular. "I crave the thrills, the chills, and the memories. I crave being together with my team and I crave the limelight a little. Now what? I've gone just as far as I can go, and there's nowhere else I can think of. Where to next?"

Frustrated, I sat up on the edge of the bed and turned the TV on. I flipped through the various channels... weather, cartoons, food (that looked really, really good to be honest... I'd have to make a note to get something good around here later)...and I stopped at the news. They were highlighting some trainer, as they usually did, but this one looked oddly familiar. I knew I had seen him before, but I couldn't remember where. He was tall, with short dark hair and dark eyes. They showed one of his battles. His style was ruthless... pure and utter destruction. The challenger had been wiped out by only one of the featured trainer's Pokémon, a... wait, a Flarios?!?

Now I knew. It was Tajiro Alakio, the man that had approached Zanzio at Tearoa, when Novoni was released... I hadn't really seen him that much, because to be honest I was trying to track Valyth as it ran off. But I noticed that some of the trainers had been eyeing him strangely... I had no clue why until one of them, Rand, told me on the flight back. He told me that Tajiro was in fact, the champion of the Zeralis region. It didn't really interest me at the time, I had my own problems to worry about. Mainly Valyth and the fact that I had to worry about Drake. Looking back, I actually laughed that I really worreid about it...

The broadcast changed and showed him at the League building in Tasmain Island. He had a smug look on his face as he triumphantly shouted in the camera, "I'm looking for a challenge. I honestly don't think that there's one person out there tough enough for me. So go ahead. Prove me wrong. At least I can get a good look at your face when you lose."

That ticked me off. "Us? Not good enough? Pfft." Now he had sparked me. Now I had another place to walk. With my new destination in mind, Nurse Joy rung the phone in my room to alert me that my team was ready to go. I trotted down to the front desk and nabbed their balls, placing them on my belt, before climbing back up to my room.

I came inside and shut the door before releasing them in the large room. They looked at me weird for a second before Crown piped up telepathically, "Well?"

"Well, what?" I asked.

"Well... what are you going to say? You obviously called us out for some reason," He answered.

I smirked, and triumphantly said, "We're going on a new journey. I'm tired of stomping over the Islands for no reason. We're going to Zeralis. They've only recently opened their league, and already their champion is begging for a beatdown. But..."

"But... you want to know if it's what WE want."

"Damn Psychics."

"We'll... talk it over." I stood there for a while before he finally said, "What, aren't you going to give us a bit of privacy?" I shrugged and went to the bathroom, figuring I'd get a quick shower in while I waited.

I came out refreshed and clean, eagerly waiting their response. I anticipated that they'd say yes... and yet they had just finished the Islands' League Challenge. I needed to know if they needed more time off, and weren't simply going because it was what I wanted. I toweled off, grabbed a new pair of pajamas from the computer, and opened the door to be met with the stares of all my Pokémon looking at me. It was... unnerving, to say the least. I asked them all carefully, "So... this means you've decided?"

Crown translated for me while Luna spoke up, "Decided? What, you thought we'd actually say no?"

I laughed and smiled, before trudging over to the bed and lying down. "Alright then. It's decided. We'll stock up on supplies and fly back to Pummelo Island tomorrow. We'll traverse Route 220 and make our final stop in the Islands at Mandarin North. From there... we ferry to Zeralis. And then... well, who the hell knows what'll happen then?"
