Zarke sighed lightly as he looked out across the seas that lay between him and his new destination.

This was infuriating to be honest. He was at Mikan Island just moments before, and now he was heading towards the Ishmadal Colosseum. And all this was because he was tricked into doing so. He had just barely reached Mikan when he was told that Mio had just signed him up for the tournament that was to be held here.

A prank to be honest, but Zarke had often remembered that she often got him into more than just the little trouble kids always got into when they were young. And to add to that, Mio was already at the Colosseum, though she had mentioned that she was going to the Castle or something. And she also mentioned that there might be a possibility that Evy had ended up there as well.

And so, here he was. Overlooking the Whirlpool Strait. The seas looked stormy and he had to cross it on his own, especially since it was a condition to even reach the island in the first place. So many rules and regulations, and he had to adhere to them because he was forced into it in the first place. Sometimes, he wondered if Mio was not being playful on purpose. She had always been the black sheep, even if she did not look dark at all, with her silvery hair and fair skin.

Taking a raft, one that certainly looked fragile (perhaps too fragile), Zarke slowly pushed off the makeshift pier. He would have to do his best to row it across the straits, and he just might have to swim if this raft failed. He just had to get this over and done with as soon as he can.

And thus began the slow plow of Zarke. Can he reach the island before it was too late? Or would he drown in the seas in between? We would have to wait and see...

A small little black bird flew in your path. Aren't these birds supposed to be bad omens?

Hopefully it doesn't mean a disaster is in the future. D:

Zarke sighed a little as a strange little bird barred his way, whipping the winds to stir up a little storm. As if he had needed a distraction. This was bad, and he had no wish to be delayed like this. And it would seem that he would not be able to move on as long as this strange little bird continued to stop him.

A battle it is then.

A quick and swift examination had instantly revealed the information he needed. After all, he had dealt with this opponent once before. And in the hands of a gym leader no less. This was a Paradisea, who is likely named after the term paradise, but he was sure that this was no Pokémon that granted you utopia other than an one-way trip with no roads back.

A Dark and Flying type Pokémon. Which means it was weak to Electric and Ice, the two elements that he had to fight it. And it just so happened that he might have a shot against this opponent with a new Pokémon that he had picked up. He had no idea who sent it to him, but he was sure that it was related to the other Pokémon that was brought to him through the PC. Someone was helping him in unknown ways.

But first, he had one irritating bird to deal with. Releasing a single orb, he sent out the newest addition to his lineup. It was a strange little Pokémon, and for some reason it really resembled an aquatic Pikachu. A Water and Electric type Pokémon, which made it one of the better Pokémon he had on hand to help deal with the wild Pokémon en-route to the Collosseum.

Without wasting a moment against the aerial foe, the strange Pikablu or Unystery as Zarke had named it created a small blue orb in between its little paws. And it immediately released the charge as bolts of blue electricity flew straight at the Paradisea. This attack might just determine how this battle would proceed...

Zarke thought carefully as he noted the Leer attack. This was rather troubling to him. He had hoped to gauge the strength of the opponent through its attack, but this would certainly throw his plans into disarray. This was something that he could not plan for, but now he had to throw caution to the wild and hope for the best.

Examining this opponent carefully, he knew that this opponent was bound to have both Dark and Flying moves at its disposal. And if the Leer was anything to go by, it was more than likely that this opponent had a powerful Flying or Dark move to back it up. Which means that he had to plan things carefully at this point.

Looking carefully at the strange little Pokémon before him, Zarke pondered on the course of action. He had hoped that he could win directly with a pure beatdown approach, but it would seem that this would not be possible, not unless he had some miracles happening.

He slowly palmed a second orb, waiting to decide on the opportunity. The next Pokémon to be sent out was not that strong either, but it was likely to be able to clear up this flighty opponent. But only if things do not go wrong all of a sudden. Which was likely if he had remembered the stories behind the Paradisea well enough.

As it was, the Mystery Pokémon Pikablu made the decision for him. Charging up yet another blue orb, it prepared to strike the bird again with a bolt of electricity. Speed was something Unystery may not have against this foe, but power was not something to be underestimated. Perhaps this battle might just go easier than he had thought. But perhaps it was just some trick to fool him as well.

Paradisea did indeed have some powerful Dark type attacks, as seen when it faded from sight and reappeared behind Pikablu with a Faint Attack. Pikablu then released its Shock Wave which wasn't nearly as powerful as the bird's attack.

Zarke winced slightly as the dark bird flew straight and unleashed a powerful sneak attack as it struck from behind. A Faint Attack. That was troubling. It was one of the more common dark moves available, and this one was certainly a physical attack to take advantage of the previous Leer. This was bad indeed.

Looking carefully at Unystery, he knew that this attack was certainly more than a little powerful. He knew that the Mystery Pokémon was not up to par to fight against this bird. A bird of ill omen at that. He could not leave the Pikablu to continue to fight as the odds noted that the slower Pokémon would not be able to win. At this point, he need to switch strategy and hope that matter would not worsen. Which it just might.

Holding out a Pokeball, he recalled the strange blue Pokémon, the Pikablu vanishing in a wave of red energy as it returned to rest. He silently thanked the Pokémon before releasing another Pokémon on his fragile raft. This time round, he had decided to call out a faithful Pokémon who had been by his side for more than a little while.

The stargazing Pokémon trod carefully on the little raft, clearly more than a little apprehensive to be on such an unstable ground in waters that were little more than just stormy. But at this point, it was meaningless to worry about that. He had to take down the opponent before it decided to break his ride. Swimming through the whirlpools and the storm was not something that he was looking for.

Nodding silently at the Gazalaxy, Lunastra called upon her own attack. Charging up a light blue orb, it prepared to strike the enemy. Freezing the opponent would be a nice touch but he was not sure what would happen for now. Zarke could only hope that this choice was not going to ruin things anymore than it already was...

But even before Lunastra could even issue her attack, the deadly dark bird flew straight and struck with its wings. The Gazalaxy cringed slightly from the fierce attack, but it was still able to counter with the Ice Beam. And this Ice Beam was not something to belittle.

The pale blue energy danced across the wings and body of Paradisea and in a flash, the bird was left frozen and it dropped into the sea waters, floating on the waves as it was near-incapacitated. It still lived for now, but at this point, Zarke was more than intent to bring down this opponent. His destination was far, and wasting time here was not something that he had been looking for.

Nodding quickly at the stargazing Pokémon, the psychic Pokémon charged up yet another pale blue orb. If the first ice Beam had such an effect, another one would not hurt. After all, why fix something that was not broken at all? But it would seem that this second attack might just end this battle...

Lunastra was able to finish off the still fozen Dark-Flying type with ease, it wasn't going to be getting far anyway.

Pikablu and Gazalaxy gain 80% exp each, both growing to level 12!

It wasn't long before this little Pokémon appeared.

As the little bird sank into the waters and faded away from view, Zarke momentarily contemplated whether he might have killed this Pokémon. This was something that had troubled many times before, but for some reason, most Pokémon tend to live to old age, whatever that is. After all, he had known Pokémon to live centuries before they left this world.

As he silently recalled the agitated Gazalaxy, he slowly began to row the raft again. This was a lot more tiring than he had expected but this was something that had to be done. The journey was long, and getting through this rough waters were not going to be a stroll in the park. If anyone could stroll through deep waters, that is.

But even so, his progress was soon halted. Another Pokémon barred his way, and this time round, it was a Pokémon that he had faced off and caught before. The blue and orange coloration of the Pokémon was unmistakeable. This was definitely a Siron that he was up against, and it was certainly a Pokémon that was much more powerful than the one he had.

Well, if this Pokémon was to stop his progress, Zarke knew that it was sorely mistaken. He had known that this trip would be full of water and flying types, and he had already prepared the necessary Pokémon to counter them. Just as well. His Pokémon certainly needed more experience for they were lacking in them.

Selecting an orb carefully, he released the Pokémon that he had called out mere minutes before. And out came the blue and yellow mystery Pokémon. This new Pokémon that he had obtained was certainly mysterious and he had hoped that he had more time to study it carefully, but this was not clearly meant to be.

Even then, Unystery made its own move without any inputs on his part. Charging up an orb of blue power, it quickly fired out bolts of blue electricity at the Pokémon that was floating atop the waters. Zarke sighed lightly as he watched. The Pikablu may be powerful on its own, but without guidance, it would be like using a sledgehammer to crack open a nut. He would have to figure out how to teach this Pokémon soon...

The faster Siron blasted Pikablu with a rush of cool water, this was ineffective however due to Unystery's ability. Siron was electrocuted painfully by Shock Wave.

Zarke smiled lightly as the water splashed over the Pikablu with no visible side effect, other than the fact that the mystery Pokémon looked slightly stronger after the fact. It was a good thing that he knew the Pokémon had Water Absorb to help battle these aqua types.

But even so, he could not let his guard down. After all, he had known that Siron was capable of more than just water-type attacks, and there was more than a slight chance that this opponent would utilize them with deadly effect. Though he had hoped that it would be less deadly than it might actually turn out to be.

For that, he would have to press forward and hope for the best. Which was at this moment of time, blasting the opponent with as much firepower or electricity in this case as possible and hope that the Pokémon would last longer than the opponent. No guarantees there though.

But Unystery was more than ready to take up on the challenge. Focusing its powers yet again, it concentrated on creating yet another orb of blue electrical power. Shockwave was a powerful electric move but it was not as powerful as a Thunderbolt. But the accuracy would help to fight against any of the evasion issues that he knew Siron would use against him.

The Pikablu was set to release the attack on cue, and well, it certainly did not need a cue. Because even before Zarke had reacted to it, the Mystery Pokémon released the blue bolts of lightning straight at its foe. The Pokémon may be slow in comparison to its opponent but it was certainly not going to let the opponent push it around. A Pokémon that was more than willing to fight in the trenches. Amusing...

Zarke smiled wearily as the little seahorse was sunk with a powerful bolt of electric. It was not that expected a victory, but he had believed that this battle would last longer than this. But he was not one to begrudge any luck that came his way.

Even as he quickly recalled the victorious Pikablu so as to continue on his way, his way was soon barred quicker than he thought. The bolts of electricity had caught the attention of a landbound Pokémon, except that this Pokémon was not that bound to land.

Skitting across the surfaces of the waters, atop of the relentless waves, came a strange hound Pokémon. Judging from its looks, it looked somewhat similar to the little puppy of a Pokémon more than a few days back. And if that was the case, he knew that much more of this strange new opponent that was coming towards him.

The hound danced and dashed across the waters, seemingly taunting him as it circled the raft. Looking at its speed, it was clearly a fast Pokémon as it seemed as though it was running on land instead of the fluid seas. And since he was up against a fast Pokémon, he might as well use a Pokémon with a fast attack, and a powerful and effective attack at that.

With a single tap of a Pokeball, he brought one of his more trusted and powerful Pokémon on his lineup. Maijin appeared on the raft, clearly more than ready to face off against any opponent. Even if it was on an unstable ground in the middle of the ocean.

Zarke smiled lightly as the Karama immediately sized up its moving foe, and crouched in a pose clearly ready to strike. And with a slight nod, he gave the signal for the warrior Pokémon to strike. And immediately, the Pokémon leapt off the raft and dashed towards its opponent, moving with a speed that was only possible due to its battle technique. Aiming for a quick and clean strike on the speedy foe that it was up against.

Zarke smiled lightly as the Karama gave a mighty blow to its opponent. That was not surprising, since he had already expected that. As it had seemed to be an evolution of the Pluppy he had battled and caught a while ago, it would seem that it has the Normal type. Which the single Mach Punch had proven correct.

But the bolt of electricity was a surprise. It would seem that the Shockwave unleashed earlier was not just a mere coincidence. The blasts of electricity had seemed to attract unwanted attention. And this would mean that this opponent was a Normal and Electric type. An interesting type combination if he had ever seen one.

But he was not intending for this battle to last any longer than he had to. This trip across the seas was not going to be easy, and not without being delayed by attacks of wild Pokémon. Zarke nodded slightly, and Maijin immediately sprung into action, leaping onto the surface of the water and dashing straight into yet another powered punch. If this attack did not take out the little speedy hound, this would be very interesting indeed...

Zarke sighed lightly as the battle finished without much of a situation. Maijin was a powerful Pokémon that he ever had, and beating this opponent was something that was not that unexpected. After all, type effectiveness count for a lot at this level of play. But he had not really expected that this constant battling would attact the wrong type of attention.

As he continued to row the raft further into the seas, heading slowly but steadily towards the island in the far distance, Zarke knew that this trip to the island was certainly being cut short. Not due to his failure as a trainer, but due to his excellence as a trainer.

Another trainer rowed by, but this trainer was not intent on overtaking him. Instead the new trainer seemed to be looking for a battle. It would seem that this was yet a trainer who was intent in joining the Ishmadal Tournament, and looking to knock out the opponents before the tournament had begun in proper.

Zarke sighed lightly to himself, as the trainer brought out a familiar Pokémon as he called out a challenge. The feline Pokémon Meowth. It was a good thing that he had his Karama out still.

Without a single command, the warrior Pokémon immediately leapt out of the raft, without even disturbing the boat a little. It aimed straight at its new foe with a direct punch. This would be a powerful blow to the feline Pokémon, and if there was some luck involved, he might just take out this cat in a single blow. But he was not going to push his luck as of now...

Zarke winced slightly as the cat stopped the blow short with a sudden attack. This was a surprising move, and it would certainly have put a wrench in the midst of his plans. The longer he took to take down this foe, the less likely the possibility of a victory over the opponent.

He paused for a moment, thinking over the choices he had. At this point, it would be better if he can quickly take out the foe, but there was nothing that could help enforce this. He would have to count on his luck and his skills to win this. Just as well. He can only hope that he still had his abilities. It was really a long while since he had to stick to what he had, stuck in a situation that was against him.

Zarke nodded slightly towards the brave warrior by its side. Karama may not have drawn the first blood, but it was certain that this brave Pokémon would not just let this slide. Speeding forth yet again, Maijin went straight into yet another direct offensive strike. After all, if it failed once, then try again and again...

Zarke pondered the situation carefully as it proceeded. The Mach Punch this time round had suceeded, since the move Fake Out can only be used once as a surprise move. But this time round, it did not unleash any offensive move instead. A growl could only mean a set-up, and that was not something that he was looking forward to entirely.

Thinking carefully, he carefully brought his hands around to his side, his hands dancing carefully across the orbs that he had brought here on this little journey. This Meowth may be the first Pokémon of his opponent, but it had already packed quite a little surprise. He knew that there would be more coming but he was already fighting at a serious advantage. He could only hope that he could hang on for the ride.

Signaling the Karama by his side, he gave the command to launch yet another attack. Maijin, locked into a single move by the power of the Choice Band, immediately dashed off towards the feline Pokémon, sprinting across on the waters of the seas, aiming straight for yet another direct attack...

Zarke smiled lightly as the force of the blow incapacitated the feline Pokémon. The first Pokémon of this trainer was dead, but there were many more to take on. He could only hope that this trainer did not pack too many powerful Pokémon.

The next opponent to be sent out was one that he had not seen before. But his eyes certainly told him quite a bit of information regarding it. The serpentine Pokémon seemed to be wrapped in bandages, a style that reminded him of the mummies found in tombs. The wispy end of its tail told him the rest. This snake Pokémon was certainly a ghost type Pokémon, and one that he might have some trouble with.

Thinking quickly, Zarke immediately selected a new Pokeball as he recalled the warrior Pokémon. Karama would be useless against a ghost type, and he knew that he had no other Pokémon that were useful against a ghost Pokémon. Or a psychic Pokémon at that.

What materialized was one of the few Pokémon that he had seen used before. The Swablu flew out, flapping its soft cotton wings as it landed on the boat with nary a movement on the raft. This was a start, but for now, he had no idea how he could derive a victory. Type advantages aside, the only useful moves on Ventas were Sing and Astonish, and with a low accuracy on Sing, this was not the best method to fight.

So, this meant for yet another direct offensive strike. Zarke nodded slightly at the Pokémon by his side, and the Swablu went forth with a direct attack. After all, a cute little Pokémon can seem very scary if utilized correctly. He could only hope that this was a plan that would succeed...

Zarke smiled lightly as the Swablu attacked the ghostly snake. It was with a slight surprise when he noted that the snake countered with a poisonous fog. A Smog attack can be dangerous but at this point in time, he could only play at stalling.

Looking at the health of the snake after the sudden Astonish attack, he was a little dismayed as he noted the situation. It would take a long way to determine how this duel would work out, and there was more than enough time for the ghostly snake to strike with a potentially fatal move. Which was more than enough for him to be concerned.

Nodding slightly, he gave the command for the cotton Pokémon to strike yet again. The Astonish attack may not have been too powerful but it was an attack that worked, and ghostly type moves had no effect on Ventas. The problem was that Swablu was not strong enough to win this battle. And this might be lethal enough. The cotton bird flew straight at the foe, with a hope to strike the foe with enough fear to bring forth a victory. Though unlikely it may be...

Zarke smiled lightly as the ghostly snake summoned black energies and fired them straight at Swablu from its eyes. The cotton bird Pokémon was taken by surprise by such a move, but it was ultimately unharmed. After all, he had predicted that the opponent had ghost type moves, and these moves would have little effect on a Normal-type Pokémon like a Swablu.

Looking at the situation yet again, he knew that this would be a very long battle. At this point in time, he had no idea how he would determine a victory other than through a long attrition battle, and he knew that the rest of this battle would not be easy. Not if this snake was this difficult and powerful.

Commanding Ventas yet again, he called for yet another offensive strike. Astonish was the only move that would have any effect on the ghost since Normal types deal little to ghosts. The cotton bird flew forward to launch yet another attack, but this time, Zarke knew that things might not go as easy this time round...

As the battle slowly proceeded, Zarke could only wonder how long this would last. Even though the Swablu had remained unhamed, this would not be something that would last. Not when he was up against an opponent who was likely to use all types of tactics against him. Something that worried him, since he could not figure out how this opponent worked.

The Astonish attacks may have worked for now because his opponent was still trying to use Night Shade to blast a hole in his defenses. It was the fact that the foe had not used other tactics that was the problem. This lack of changes meant that something might be planned in store for him and it was something to be concerned with.

Zarke motioned slightly for Ventas to continue to attack. Until an opportunity presented itself, he had no other method of fighting this battle without sustaining heavy injuries on his side, and it would seem that it was near impossible to win anytime soon. All he could do was to bide his time...

Zarke winced lightly as the snake called forth a bout of poisonous fog into existence. This time, the cotton bird was not as lucky as before as the smog struck and smouldered the Pokémon with its deadly poison. This was definitely something that he was hoping to not happen. Which meant that he had to switch to another Pokémon and fast.

His mind spinning fast, he quickly brought out the first Pokémon he had received here. With a swift movement, an orb was sent flying into the air, releasing yet another of his Pokémon while a beam of red light brought the slightly ill Swablu back into its Pokeball. And thanks to its Natural Cure ability, Ventas would be well soon enough, but this battle was just getting on its way.

And the little joey was more than ready to unleash some fires of its own. After all, the little Fire Pokémon was a subscriber to the philosophy of fighting everything with fire, and what it did next was no mere flaming. Drawing upon the fire with its soul and body, the Pyroo spewed forth a gigantic burst of flames at its foe and around. This attack might just be more than a bit dangerous for the battleground that they were on now, but Fyra was apparently more interested in battling its foe to care about that...

Zarke frowned lightly as the ghostly snake attacked with a surprise shadow strike. This was slightly troubling as this was a Shadow Sneak, a fast attack that can be unavoidable when used correctly. And it was also a Ghost type move at that.

But Fyra had done well in combating this ghostly foe. Its searing flames combined with the cold dampness of the oceans had messed with the spirit snake badly, burning the opponent. This was quite a break that he had received and he had no intention on wasting it. Or at least that was he intended.

Bringing up his hands, he brought out the cotton bird Pokémon again. Ventas had recovered from the previous poisonous strike when it was recalled thanks to its unique ability, but this battle was not just over yet as it appeared in a brillant flash of light. The Swablu flapped its wings gently, as it prepared to face off its foe again.

Zarke quickly brought out his arm to halt the overeager Fire Pokémon, and tapped it quickly with its own Pokeball before it could do anything that might disrupt his plans. Just as the fire Pokémon returned to its own Pokeball in a wave of red energy, he nodded slightly to the flying Pokémon by his side.

The Swablu flapped its wings and led off, flying straight at its foe yet again. A bird against a snake. It would be ironic if the little bird wins. And even more so if it won using a ghostly attack on a ghostly snake. Zarke mused slightly to himself as an amusing thought crossed his mind, but one that he kept to himself. Now was not the time for mindless little quips after all...

The snake fell and the trainer brought out yet another Pokémon. But this Pokémon was familiar to him. The red fur of the cat with the forked tail. A nekomata that wielded fire and psychic powers. And certainly one that was more powerful that the previous he had fought against. A lot more powerful.

Carefully recalling the cotton bird Pokémon, he knew that he had to try something drastic for this battle. But he knew not if he was pushing his luck or not. All he knew that this was something he had to bet on for now. And he did not know if this was something that might work out. He could only hope that his strategies did not fail now. This cat was definitely a lot more stronger than the snake to fall directly to a frontal assault.

And he brought out the one Pokémon that would actually have a disadvantage in this battle. What appeared was a grass type Pokémon. The Bulb Pokémon Bulbasaur, though this one seemed to be coloured oddly. But nonetheless, this Pokémon was his choice, and he hoped that he had not made the wrong one.

Moving his hands slightly, he gave a direct command to the grass Pokémon. Knowing that a direct attack would fail, he knew that he had to stall for some time, and hope that he did not fail at that. And launching a direct leech seed attack might just work. Or at least that is what he hoped for. Florizare gathered its powers and quickly launched a single seed from the bulb on its back. This might just be the determinant for this battle...

Zarke smiled lightly even as the battle proceeded badly for him. The little grass type was battered with a powerful psychic move, and he knew that leaving Florizare to continue battling was definitely a poor choice to make. But the plan was moving along as he had designed it. The next step was to secure a victory.

Moving his hands quickly, he acted two things immediately. The first thing was to bring back the wearied Bulbasaur. Against a foe that can toss it around like a can, leaving the bulb Pokémon there was certainly not a good idea. The second thing was to bring out a Pokémon that might be able to take this new foe. And for this choice, he decided to call out one of his trusted Pokémon that he had trained from scratch.

The stargazing Pokémon appeared beside him, its footing unsure on the raft that was its battleground, but it was certainly eager enough to battle. Or at least it seemed to be, as it immediately prepared an attack on its own. Its horn glowed blue with power as a pale blue orb formed right in front of its mouth, waiting to strike the little cat that was before it...

Zarke frowned lightly as the battle proceeded. While the Leech Seed was going well, it would seem that the little fire cat was making plans of its own. A Fire Spin was not that powerful a move, but it was a trap move. A move to set up on the foe on. And a move that prevented him from switching out in case of emergency.

Thinking quickly, he knew that he had to work fast. The flames may prevent him from swapping out the Gazalaxy, but he knew that with the leeching power of the seed, this battle would be proceeding along just fine. Not unless this nekomata held more tricks than he had first expected.

Nodding quickly at the trapped Lunastra, Zarke gave the command for the Pokémon to attack yet again. Labouring hard to gather energy, the stargazing Pokémon struggled as it prepared to attack. These flames were certainly distracting and they were affecting the icy powers of the psychic Pokémon. A small pale blue orb barely formed, and Zarke instantly knew that this battle was certainly going to be more than just a little problematic...

Zarke frowned slightly as the battle proceeded. This battle was starting to proceed badly and that was something that he was hoping would not happen. The fiery nekomata was certainly a lot more powerful than the last one he had fought, and this one was definitely not going down with a fight.

Glancing at the trapped Gazalaxy, he knew that the psychic Pokémon was not faring well, not even with the aid of the seed leeching strength from the opponent. But even so, the Pokémon was still standing strong, and not in the least bit willing to back down. Just as well. Since he was unable to do anything about that.

Giving a quick nod, Zarke was forced to command the stargazing Pokémon to attack yet again. Lunastra instantly drew upon its powers over ice to form a pale blue orb before its head. This time though, it was with less difficulty despite the flames, but nonetheless it was formed. The scythe horn on the side of its head glowed with a pale blue light as the Pokémon prepared to strike with an Ice Beam...

Zarke looked on carefully as the battle proceeded. The fires had not abated in the least, not when the fiery cat continued to build on it with its embers. This was quite worrying, but there was not much that he could really do about it.

Looking at both Pokémon, he could easily tell that two Pokémon facing off were tired. Wearied. Exhausted. This battle of attrition had taken quite a toll on the two, and he was not entirely sure if he could tell how this would end up. The two Pokémon were strong in their own ways, but this battle was nearly impossible to predict at this point in time. All he could do was wait, and hope for the best.

Zarke motioned slightly for Lunastra to continue with the assault. Since he was unable to change up the lineup, he could only hope that the battle continues with no problems. The stargazing Pokémon gathered its powers again to concentrate on a direct strike. The Ice Beam may not be that powerful, but it was certainly going to fare better than any psychic moves for now. The pale blue orb slowly grew, in preparation for the attack that was slowly to come...

Zarke frowned slightly as this latest round proceeded. While both Pokémon were starting to show signs of being wounded from the battle, it was also clear that the next round would most likely be the last round from this battle. Both Pokémon seemed quite injuried.

A quick look gave him some hope. The flames that were surrounding Lunastra had started to die down, but he knew that this was not for long. The Gazalaxy was certainly more than just a little exhausted from this duel, and he knew that allowing the stargazing Pokémon to even continue battling was definitely a wrong choice.

Whipping two Pokeballs out, he decided to do a little switch-up. As a red beam of light brought the current Pokémon back to its rest, another brillant flash of white light brought out yet another Pokémon that he had used a while earlier.

The aquatic mystery appeared, more than ready to short out any of its opponents' systems. Fitting since the opponent was more than a little in for a little electrocution. The Pikablu charged up for a short moment as its cheeks sparked with the electricity coursing through the Pokémon, before it unleashed a blast of blue lightning. Shock Wave or not, this bit of electric power was going to hurt.

The Infermata fired more embers as the Pikablu emerged, but the seeds on top of the electric Pokémon's attacks meant that the feline had no hopes for survival.

And it seems many trainers were eager to get to Ishmadal, because it certainly wasn't long until you found another one hoping for a practice battle!

With the single bolt of electricity, Unystery easily beat down the opposing Pokémon. And as it would seem, the opposing trainer as well. The trainer gave a slight grunt, as he slowly rowed his raft away. Clearly disappointed at his loss. After all, in order to qualify for the tournament, the trainer had to survive all of the battles on the trip to the colosseum.

Breathing slowly, he recalled the Pikablu and slowly continued on his way on the raft. Rowing as fast as he could without truly exhausting himself, he could see why this place was known as the Whirlpool Strait. As he got closer and closer to the island, there were whirlpools everywhere, threatening to pull any and all to a watery death.

He paused carefully as he noted the various whirlpools. All looked more than a little dangerous, and he knew that navigating the way through them would be more perilous. He may have rowed this raft this far, but he was not a sailor nor was he a good swimmer at that. A false move could certainly lay him among the fishes at the bottom of the ocean. And that was something he was trying to avoid.

Scanning the waters carefully, he spotted a narrow path where it was probably as safe as it could be to navigate this perilous route. But as he slowly rowed towards it, as careful as he could be, it would seem that another had also spotted this path. Another trainer. One who also seemed intent on eliminating his opponents before the tournament properly began.

Sighing lightly, he noted that the opponent brought out a familiar Pokémon. The catastrophe Pokémon Absol. It would seem that the trainer was intent on an intimidation tactic. Well, he was not going to wait around for that. He had intended to reach the island, and no one was going to stop him from doing so.

Holding a single Pokeball, he chose the one Pokémon that would end this battle as fast as possible. The warrior Pokémon appeared, in a battle stance. Maijin was definitely more than ready to take down this foe. And without a sound, it immediately sprung forward and at its enemy. The Karama had been trained to react with the optimum move at the moment and it would seem that it was doing so without waiting for his command. But at least it was heading off with a solid punch first...
